Bioboost was invited to participate and present the project at the Bioregions event on October 4, within the framework of the Bioeconomy Innovation Day 2023,<\/em> organized in Bilbao by the Basque Government and the European Forest Institute (EFI) through the BioRegions Facility.<\/p>\n\n

BioRegions connects forward-thinking regions across Europe with the mission to work together to unlock their potential in the field of forest management. Among these regions is Catalonia, which stands out for its vast forested territory and the numerous projects contributing to the circular bioeconomy. For this reason, Bioboost aims to promote this paradigm shift, consolidating projects in the region and accelerating their execution.<\/del><\/p>\n\n

Forest management is crucial for addressing the climate crisis, contributing to forest adaptation to climate change, the creation of resilient agroforestry landscapes, and the preservation of biodiversity. It also enhances forest management methods and techniques, utilizes forest resources, and balances the production of timber, non-timber products, and ecosystem services. Collectively, these actions significantly contribute to climate crisis mitigation, land management, rural development, as well as the local and circular economy.<\/p>\n\n

The Bioeconomy Innovation Day<\/em> was a one-day meeting featuring talks, presentations, debates, and networking focused on the potential of the circular forest bioeconomy, including sustainable silviculture, advanced biological origin materials, bio-construction, and international exchange in this field. The event was inaugurated by Bittor Oroz, Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture, and Food Policy of the Basque Government, and featured experts such as Ananya Manna, Director of Investments at the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF), Leire Bara\u00f1ano, General Director of NEIKER and Vice President of the Board of the European Forest Institute (EFI), and Inazio Mart\u00ednez de Arano, Coordinator of the BioRegions Facility, among others.<\/p>\n\n

During the event, innovative solutions in bioeconomy were presented, such as Zerticarbon<\/a><\/em> (certified carbon offset solutions with blockchain technology), Evolgen<\/a><\/em> (nanocellulose crystals for industrial applications), Biorreformed<\/a><\/em> (Mediterranean biorefinery), among others. There was also an opportunity to learn about European players in bioeconomy innovation, such as the Irish Bioeconomy Foundation<\/em> or Bioeconomy Austria.<\/em><\/p>\n\n
