Alcarràs Bioproductors SAT is a prominent example of the current transformation of the bioeconomy in Catalonia. It is an agrarian society composed of 150 farming families with 600 pig and cattle farms in the Segrià region (Lleida). This entity actively works to valorize renewable biological resources, mainly agricultural byproducts, and promotes innovative solutions.
Currently, Alcarràs Bioproductors operates a composting plant where it transforms agricultural waste and vegetal remains into high-quality ecological compost. Furthermore, they are in the process of implementing a biogas plant for energy production (electricity and biogas) and solid and liquid organic fertilizer products. This comprehensive approach to the valorization of biological resources is crucial for achieving a more sustainable and circular economy.
Alcarràs Bioproductors is progressing with the support provided by Bioboost services, which offer legal assistance in administrative procedures, guidance in new business models (such as the use of biomethane as an alternative fuel for tractors or expanding the organic fertilization market), and the definition of the governance model of the future biopolygon they want to build.
Thanks to this support, Alcarràs Bioproductors SAT is advancing more rapidly towards the consolidation of new businesses, leveraging biological resources, and engaging in the bioeconomy of Catalonia.
